Summer is for the fun stuff.
In this occasion we went for Jávea. Having a friend host us in his B&B, Youth Hostel Javea, was a great excuse to visit this lovely mediterranean coastal retreat. We took time to do some kayaking (with these guys), snorkelling and banana!! This last one is one hell of a ride in an inflatable banana firmly pulled by a zig-zagging zodiac. Totally recommended for a big laugh.
The kayaking was really tiresome. We were stranded (yes, stranded) for 4 hours in open sea waters with just our muscles to depend on. All the computer typing and coffee lifting training had to pay off, finally! And they did, alas Raquel falling a few times and struggling to get back on.
Anyhow, no matter how much I tried to protect myself from the sun by even wearing a swimming t-shirt and sunscreen 50 (yes dad, I tried) I ended up burning the hell out of my legs. Plus a small vein in an eye popped, so I guess 4 hours under the raging sun is just too much for my pale self.
On the upside, this was the first time I snorkelled… and had quite the time with the rhizostomae jelly fish. Hundreds… thousands! of them drifted in the water, in colonies. I hadn’t seen anything like this before. While rowing across I plugged the GoPro in the water, right under the kayak, hold the paddle strongly and focused on my concentration to not fall off at this point. Pheeeew!
Some pictures to illustrate our 3 day trip to Jávea.
